Pornography should be banned from the Internet from the viewers of the American population, because many marriages are torn apart because of this drug. Although people state you need to be 18 years or older to view this, and it only hurts it’s viewer. Pornography should be banned on the Internet because anyone can view it, and it is destroying the American’s economy.

So I have decided to talk in my issues paper, how Pornography is a literal drug. Not only that but how it is the quiet drug of this millennium, Some sources I have found are these... these two talk about how they are drugs 1. 2.  These next two talk about how Pornography directly effects one being violent. 1. 2.  the last source is a book that I will have to get and it is called "He restoreth my soul" by Donald L. Hilton.

what to do?

So I have been thinking about what to write for my issues paper. I have thought of many things, either something around politics, sports, or religion. Sports... I thought i might not be able to write 8 full pages on a specific sport. So I narrowed it down to politics or religion. I was thinking about writing about how other religions may have parts of the truth. And how many religions do and practice correct things, but what makes the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, the one and only true church. I don't know hopefully I will have some sort of epiphany.

Review

So i was thinking about the rhetorical analysis I just did in my english class, and I felt as if I did a better job than my opinion editorial. At first I was not too excited for this Analysis, However, as I studied more of my topic and what it was all about I actually got excited about it. Mainly because I felt like I was learning things that Mitt Romney actually believes, and not what people just say on the street. I also enjoyed going to the writing center this time much more than the time before, I felt I was taught exactly what I needed to hear. Also I feel like I did a lot better on my grammar on this essay than the opinion editorial. Mainly because I read it out loud to myself and figured out why sounded odd, and fixed it. In no way I enjoy writing papers, and probably never will. However, I do feel as if I did a good job on this rhetorical Analysis.

THE rhetorical Analysis

Elections for the new presidential campaign are just around the corner. As we have many different candidates, it is always exciting time to hear what each candidate has to say. In this address given by Mitt Romney—that is given to the American voters—he strives to tell his audience how he can make a difference by giving the opportunity for all Americas to have a job. Romney does a great job at using rhetoric and persuading his audience. He begins by making the democratic audience feel betrayed by their current president. Romney accomplishes this through his word choice and by appealing to those who follow the news regularly by using current events and historical references. Romney uses great forms of rhetoric to attract the American voters by building their self-esteem and making them feel like they are important in today’s society.

           

Romney begins his article saying how he has been a businessman for 25 years and how he understands the way America’s economy is run. This immediately makes the audience feel as if he/she knows what Romney references and gives Romney credibility on what claims he does make about the workforce. Once the audience has this image planted in his/her brain Romney states, “But at a moment when the American workforce must respond like never before, its ability to do so is under assault by President Barack Obama and the union bosses that he counts as his allies." Romney does a very good job at making the audience put President Obama, union bosses, and enemies all in the same category. This makes the democratic audience feel as if the president they once voted to office has betrayed them. Romney does this with the word choice he uses. For example the words “under assault” makes the audience imagine as if they are at war with these three forces. This word choice is very effective because it makes the democratic audience feel like they are at war and, Romney knowing how much they oppose war, the democrats will want to vote for him to get them out of this dilemma.

Romney then speaks to those who follow current events by bringing to their minds the mistakes the current administration has made. Romney states, “There will be no Boeing cases in a Romney administration. Indeed, I would use the bully pulpit of the presidency to encourage more states to adopt right-to-work laws.” By Romney bringing up the “Boeing case” the audience remembers how the Boeing airline is producing a plant in South Carolina, in which approximately 1,800 Americans will lose their jobs in Washington DC. This also forces the audience to remember the problem on the border of Mexico called maquiladoras—American plants being built on the border of Mexico because it is cheaper to pay Mexicans. Romney uses effective rhetoric here because this makes the audience remember the mistakes that President Obama has made and things he has let slide. Romney has the audience feel as if the current President thinks Americans are useless and not productive. This making the middle class American wanting a president who will produce jobs, not to take them from the people.

Romney at this point understands how the audience must feel betrayed. He then uses a historical reference to have the audience feel at ease.  When Romney states “bully pulpit,” it makes the reader remember when this term was first used. When Theodore Roosevelt was president he used the term “bully” to express “excellent” or “superb,” as he was referring to the white house and the platform in which it stands. Romney uses a great form of rhetoric by putting himself in the same category as this great president America once knew. This makes the audience feel that Romney can be a superb president as Theodore Roosevelt once was.  

Romney then uses a form of rhetoric by counter arguing what the Democratic Party believes. He states, “The practice is fundamentally inconsistent with democratic principles; there is no legitimate reason for employees to face automatic paycheck deductions for political expenditures that they may not support. Under our laws, political donations should always be freely and voluntarily given.” Romney does a great job by having the Democratic Party reconsider what they believe. Normally, the democratic view is to believe in free choice—a belief that you have the freedom to act without the government forcing you to act a certain way. However, Romney makes the audience feel that democrats are taking away that freedom by forcing them to pay taxes. It makes them feel as if they do not want to be a part of an association who takes peoples freedom away. Because the way Romney presents this, he makes the democratic audience feel that the freedom they believe in, is not being practiced; it shows them how their current practice is forcing Americans to pay high taxes, which is contrary to freedom of choice.

Romney then appeals to all Americans by making them feel of self worth. In his concluding paragraph he states, “America’s workers have long been the most productive in the world. If we unshackle them from the self-interested restrictions of federal bureaucrats and union bosses alike, I have no doubt that they will produce wonders far beyond…” Romney’s word choices such as “we unshackle” and “produce wonders” makes the American audience feel as if they matter and builds their self-esteem. It also makes the audience remember the “Boeing case” by having them feel as if Romney will not allow any of these mistakes to happen while he is in office. This is effective because it has the audience agree with the conclusion that if Romney is president he will apply these principles. It encourages Americans to believe that if they vote for Romney they will be able to put their skills to work.

“Believe in America” is Romney’s motto, and states it in this adress. He uses it as a plan to reignite America’s economy. With this motto, Romney will hope to change America and bring it where it once was. In this video he say’s, “We stand for freedom, opportunity and hope…” He then continues to say how we all come from different backgrounds in life and says there is one thing that is in common with us all: “we are united by one great overwhelming passion. We love America, we believe in America!” Romney states that as Americans we are one. As he uses this term he makes the audience feel as if they are one with Romney. He does a great job doing this with his word choice, having the audience feeling uplifted and starting to believe in what Romney’s campaign is trying to promote. Romney tries to have the audience not just believe in America but believe in him (Mitt).

In conclusion, Romney uses great rhetoric throughout his whole speech. He makes his audience feel comfortable and safe, as well as making the audience agree with Romney’s principles. With these feelings Romney makes the audience comfortable in voting for a president who will help the economy. Romney also does a great job at making the audience feel betrayed by the Democratic Party and by the decisions that have been made by past political parties, and does this by the word choice throughout his speech. Ultimately, Romney makes the audience feel as if America matters and they are part of it. They will be the future of America once Romney is elected as President.

I really have enjoyed these last two peer reviews, I feel like I get i lot of these. It has really helped me and given me a better idea what I need to write about. out the last two I would have to say I liked this one a tad better. I liked it a lot better because I was able to get a paper back with ideas, and things that I need to do better on my paper. Even though the last one did help me I feel these papers given to me by my peers, will really help me do better on this Analysis.

One form of Rhetoric

One last form of Rhetoric that Romney uses is his quote on believe in America, and uses it as what he calls his new plan on reigniting America’s economy. This is a great name for this process in which he will hope to change. If you watch this video he say’s, “We stand for freedom, opportunity and hope…” he continues to go on to say how we all come from different background in life and says there is one thing that is in common with us all, he states, “we are united by one great overwhelming passion. We love America, we believe in America!” Although Romney does not say it in his article he uses a statement in which he has used before many times, claiming America as one. As he uses this term he helps Americans have the desire to believe with him, so they can see a change in America when he is the next President. Romney as well shows how he is unified with all Americans and knows exactly how they feel. In essence when he uses this term “believe in America” he is showing that America can become the great nation that everyone always hopes it to be.     

A Simple Analogy

Here Mitt Romney makes a quote at the begging of his article saying. "But at a moment when the American workforce must respond like never before, its ability to do so is under assault by President Barack Obama and the union bosses that he counts as his allies." He uses Analogy here with the term as union bosses. When he is referring to these union bosses he is really meaning the Elites of this country, those who many people look up to and respect. therefore, people will respect their ideas and follow them and whom they will vote for. These Elites are loving the money that they are receiving from these different pensions as Obama continues with his work force movement.

My Thesis

Here Mitt Romney strives to help us Americans notice how our unemployment rate is so low. By so doing this he hopes we elect  him as the next president. In so doing this he talks to all people. The wealthy businessman, the average Joe, and the poor man. With some bold statements and changes that he will do once he becomes the next president.

When I first started to hear about W.S Merwin, I felt like I was in the room with a superstar! however, once he opened it up to questions, you got the awkward pause. You could tell many of the people there were just there for credit for class...However, many people started to open up and to ask many good questions. one of my favorite was about how he translates plays and poems. You could tell as he talked about himself, he was very humble. How he himself was still trying to figure out how he got where he is at now in life. Mitt Romney, more jobs

Mitt Romney here is focused on all Americans, He focuses especially those who want to increase our economy, and those who have no jobs. The main purpose of Mitt Romney is to want us to vote for him as the next president. The tools that he uses are many, to name a few he talks about how Obama has not done too much to improve America. Something he uses that I really like; is how he say he himself is a working american, and not only that but how us Americans are hard workers. Because of this it makes me believe that I am a hard worker and feel good about myself. And how not only myself but all americans and how they all deserve a job, and he will help Americans get jobs. The main reason the author makes us want to feel this way is so we will have a desire to increase our economy, and want to vote for him as a president. reflections of my head

So it was pretty fun to be able to put down some thoughts in my head down on the paper. However, I am not a too big fan of writing. It just has never made much sense to me. Especially how you can use all the different type of punctuations for same purposes. I enjoyed though going to the writing lab. I will have to admit. I felt for the most part they were able to help me put more thoughts on the paper. Out of everything though the best was the peer review. I was able to receive some great constructive criticism. In which I felt really helped me able to express my thoughts more clearly. All in all; I thought it was a learning experience.

Let us all unite as Mormons

Have you ever wondered when you’re outside of Utah, why people always make fun of Utah Mormons? Especially from members of the same religion! They say that us Utah Mormons are extremely judgmental, and think we are better than the rest of the world. As a Utah Mormon why don’t we unite together and show the world who we truly are. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Not a “Utah Mormon”

Growing up in Utah I just assumed that the rest of the world was the same. I thought mostly everyone were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As I grew older, I started to learn differently as I would visit other places. I started to realize how people would actually make fun of Utah Mormons. At first I was offended hearing this. My prideful self wanted to retort and tell these people a piece of my mind. However, I became very disappointed as I came to know these statements were somewhat true.

I was able to spend a couple years in California, there talking to a lot of people about the church; I came to find out that people would say they would never become a Mormon. I would like to share of an experience that stinks out to me more than the rest. I remember sitting in this mans home, (a good man, raising wonderful children, all getting accepted to prestigious colleges, and living great lives) as he told us of a story how his neighbors would not even wave to him. These members would not let their children play with his. He said it was very difficult for his children to have a social life at this time in their lives. He felt all the other kids would play with each other, but whenever his kids became involved they all had to go home. Yes I can understand that there are always two sides to any story, and that he could have been exaggerating a little. However, because of his experience that he did have, he said would never become associated with such a denomination.

As I heard this story it made my heart sink, to know that as I was working with all my might to represent Jesus Christ. Members of this same church would act in such a way that resulted in people who needed a change, and the gospel in their lives turn us down without even giving our true message a chance!

Whenever I think about how members of any religion treating its members poorly, it makes me think of a story during WWII.  A couple of soldiers were fighting in the German army; they were captured and put on a train as a prisoner of war. As they were on a train going through France they made a stop. There a cardinal of the Catholic Church threw garbage at them, and discriminated these young German soldiers for doing what they new to be best. One of these young men was my grandfather, (A strong member of the Catholic church at the time). I remember my grandfather telling me this story when I was just a boy, and because of this experience alone, it showed him what kind of people the Catholics are and decided to never be a part of that religion anymore.  This story has had a huge impact in my life. Helping me understand how our actions make a big effect on people

One last story is one that I beat myself every time I think about it. When I was about 10 years old, we had a church Halloween party. At the party I saw a kid I have never seen at church. I remember thinking to myself how this kid does not deserve to be there because he hasn’t come to church at all. To be honest I called this kid out, which resulted in hurting his feelings. I never saw him again. I don’t know what ever happened to this kid or where he is at in life. I don’t even know if he was a member or not. However, I wish I could take this experience back in my life. This was an example how I judged someone irrationally, Thinking he didn’t deserve the same treatment as me because I went to church each week.

I have loved growing up in this beautiful state! I love the people here. It is because of you that make this state such a great place. I understand at times why we would want the best for our kids-not wanting them to have friends who have bad morals (which I do understand some non-members have lower values)- or maybe a little scared to leave our comfort zone and talk to our neighbors, especially if they live a lifestyle that is not similar to ours. To simply put it, I understand that we are humans too and we are not perfect either, and we all make mistakes. But why not help those who are in need, who are struggling.

            Jesus Christ himself said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Let us all do as Christ says. To have our light shine before men! How do we exactly do that? To love everyone whom we meet. To not judge them, whether they are white or black, male or female, Mormon or non-Mormon. And to not make my mistake I did, and always invite people to activities and befriend them. God wants us all to return to live with him. He loves all mankind and wants us all to succeed, not just those members of His church. So shouldn’t we have this same belief and do everything in our power to help out mankind, by befriending them and showing them our true love? As we do this people stop thinking that as a Utah Mormon we are judgmental. They will see us who we truly are; sons and daughters of God.

Best song EVER!

For anyone who likes music this is the song of ALL time! About two days, Coldplay released there new single. it is called "Paradise" and as I have listened to this song. I felt as if I was filled with this overwhelming excitement! I have now constantly been playing this song over and over again. no matter where I am at! I would have to say that this song is probably the greatest song that ever has been compiled together. I believe in 20 years when they play classics of this century, this will be one. It is going down in the Books! I advise anyone to just listen to this wonderful song and just see if you are not more happy than you were before listening to it.

Roddick... Disappointment?

As a young child I grew up Idolizing Andy Roddick! All I wanted was to be like him, he was my hero! He was intense! He was a winner! He was competitive! One of my favorite things about him was his incredible serves. Here is a video of him serving it so hard into the clay, something that has never been down before.  He would yell at the opponents, and the judges. I saw myself in him. I really became a fan of him in the year 2001, He started to just dominate in a lot of matches,  especially him winning the U.S. Open in the year 2003, resulting him being the best tennis player in the world.
9 years have past since, he is now old, and Andy Roddick has tended to disappoint not just myself but America match after match. There are now players like Djokavic, Nadal, Federer, who I admit can crush Roddick to pieces.

Roddick Has gotten himself to the 4th round of this U.S. Open, I hope to see him not disappoint me once again.
